Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) invites applications for a part-time Before and After School Assistant Teacher to support BASE programs across several elementary schools in Chester County. This role runs from 7 AM to 9 AM and/or 3 PM to 6 PM, providing a safe, educational environment for children before and after school.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with 2,500 hours of childcare experience, 30 college credits in related fields, 15 credits with one-year related

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2,500 hours of childcare experience.
• 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary or related human services field education.
• 15 college credit hours and one-year experience related to the care.
• Current CDA certificate (preferred).
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 4 shifts per week preferred.
• Must keep an up-to-date DHS file.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with the children to encourage their development and involvement in activities.
• Maintain maintenance records, including accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.
• Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED

2,500 hours of childcare experience

30 credit hours in early childhood or related field

The Before and After School Assistant Teacher (part-time) supports the Before and After School Enrichment [BASE] program of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The Assistant Teacher creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes all children and families while promoting and maintaining a strong educational program in accordance with the YMCA and licensing and quality requirements, from 7 AM to 9 AM and/or 3 PM to 6PM.
