Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine in West Chester, PA is seeking a childcare role to supervise students, ensure safety, and support children’s development through engaging activities. You will maintain records, greet families daily, and follow DHS procedures while promoting a positive learning environment.

The position offers full-time hours with comprehensive benefits and ongoing training opportunities at Oscar Lasko YMCA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 30 college credits in early childhood, elementary or related field preferred.
• 15 college credits and 1 year experience related to child care.
• 2,500 hours of service in childcare preferred.
• Current CDA certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with children to encourage development and participation.
• Maintain maintenance records (accident reports, sign-in/out, attendance).
• Greet parents and children daily and escalate concerns to lead teacher or director.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk‑free environment.
• Engage with the children to encourage their development and involvement in activities.
• Maintain maintenance records, including, but not limited to: accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.
• Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: What You’ll Need

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2,500 hours of service (2 years) of childcare experience preferred
• 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary or related human services field education
• 15 college credit hours and one-year experience related to the care
• 2,500 hours of service
• Current CDA certificate
• Must keep an up-to-date DHS file
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
