Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine invites you to join as a Childcare Assistant Teacher, providing a safe, welcoming, and structured environment where children can learn and grow. You will supervise students, support development activities, maintain records, greet families, and ensure compliance with DHS requirements and YMCA policies.

A HS diploma or GED, hours of childcare experience, and a CDA certificate are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• 2,500 hours of childcare experience preferred.
• 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary or related human services field education.
• 15 college credit hours and one-year experience related to the care.
• Current CDA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with the children to encourage their development.
• Maintain maintenance records (accident/incident reports, sign in/out, attendance).
• Greet parents and children daily and report concerns to lead teacher or director.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and SOPs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

Qualifications

What You’ll Need

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2,500 hours of service (2 years) of childcare experience preferred
• 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary or related human services field education
• 15 college credit hours and one-year experience related to the care
• 2,500 hours of service
• Current CDA certificate
• Must keep an up-to-date DHS file
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
