YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) seeks an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to support a safe, engaging classroom aligned with YMCA values and licensing standards. The role emphasizes supervision, positive guidance, and developmentally appropriate activities for children.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED and substantial childcare experience, with DHS certifications kept current within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2,500 hours of service (2 years) of childcare experience preferred.
• Must keep an up-to-date DHS file.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with the children to encourage their development and involvement in activities.
• Maintain maintenance records, including, but not limited to: accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.
• Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
