Job summary

Pittsburgh Minadeo Elementary School hosts Healthy Kids Programs for before and after school care. We’re seeking a School-Age Childcare Assistant to support kids from 5–12, with shifts that follow the school calendar (7:00–9:30 and 3:30–6:00).

This part-time role offers employer-paid childcare and opportunities to work morning, afternoon, or both. Responsibilities include leading activities, ensuring a safe environment, and assisting with attendance and registration as needed.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience working with children under 13.
• Must pass a full background check, including fingerprinting and reference checks.
• Must be medically fit to perform job duties which includes a clear TB.
• Warm, friendly, professional, and reliable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
