Job summary

Swift Optometry is seeking a friendly and compassionate Optometrist to join our team in Augusta, ME, providing bedside eye care in long-term care facilities. This part-time role emphasizes comprehensive exams for glasses and contacts, dilated exams, and diabetic evaluations, with a focus on elderly residents.

You will work with a dedicated team to deliver high-quality optometric services, including infection management, eyeglass fittings, and geriatric patient support in a facility-based setting.

Qualifications

• Candidates must hold an OD license and a DEA license.
• Ability to lift at least 20 pounds and stand/walk for up to 6–8 hours per day.
• Prolonged sitting/standing with fine motor skills for equipment operation.
• Comfortable working with the geriatric population.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, comprehensive exams for glasses and contacts.
• Conduct dilated eye exams.
• Provide diabetic eye evaluations.
• Treat infections and injuries of the eye.
• Repair and fit eyeglasses for patients.
• Proficient in diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease.
• Work comfortably with geriatric patients in long-term care settings.
