Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care in a fast-paced hospital setting. Duties include assisting with meals, hydration, mobility, baths, and linen changes, and supporting the bedside RN by taking vital signs and reporting changes promptly.

The role emphasizes safety, with gait belts and alarms, and requires current BLS certification, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage a high workload across part-time

Qualifications

• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or IU Health PCA program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficient interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high workload with limited time.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with meals, drinks, walking, baths and linen changes.
• Provide vitals to the bedside RN and report abnormalities promptly.
• Maintain patient safety with gait belts and alarms during care.
• Stay within arm's reach of patients when moving around the unit.
• Support care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
