Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care and assist with activities of daily living. The role supports RNs, helps with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes, and ensures patient safety with alarms and gait belts.

Qualified candidates will have BLS certification and strong interpersonal and communication skills, thriving in a fast-paced hospital setting and demonstrating adaptability across units.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to withstand high levels of tension and stress and maintain concentration amid interruptions.
• Ability to manage a high workload and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, and help with walking.
• Assist with baths, linen changes, and gown assistance to patients.
• Support bedside RN with vital signs and rapid reporting of changes.
• Maintain patient safety with gait belts and alarms at arm's reach.
• Contribute to a compassionate, fast-paced care environment.
