Job summary

Utah Department of Public Safety's Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) is seeking a full-time BCI Intern. The role involves in-office work at 4315 S 2700 W, Taylorsville, UT, with a schedule code B - Competitive Career Service.

Duties include fingerprinting, data entry, research of criminal history records, and confidential handling of sensitive information. The internship requires passing a level II background check, strong computer skills, and the ability to work in a high-volume

Qualifications

• Minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute; a typing test will be part of the interview.
• Familiarity with Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Education or experience in Criminal Justice or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Fingerprinting support and data entry for criminal records.
• Research and analysis of court dispositions and related records.
• Maintain confidentiality following state and federal laws.
• Provide in-person and digital customer service.
• Assist with ABIS fingerprint processing and system usage.
• Support non-criminal background checks and registry maintenance.
