Job summary

The Office of Attorney General/Division of Criminal Investigation in Pierre is seeking an Intern for the Summer session to assist with fingerprint identification and background checks. Responsibilities include filing fingerprints, creating folders, scanning records, and maintaining the criminal history database.

Applicants must be enrolled as a student and have completed at least one year of study; preference may be given to South Dakota residents and students from SD institutions.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in filing and processing criminal and civil fingerprints.
• Create master fingerprint folders and scan records into the digital database.
• Update and maintain computerized criminal history database.
• Process non-criminal fingerprint background applications.
• Help maintain criminal records.
