Job summary

State of South Dakota offers an Intern – DCI – Fingerprint Identification position in Pierre for the Summer session (May–August). The intern will assist in processing fingerprint background checks, filing, scanning records, and maintaining the criminal history database under supervision.

Applicants must be current part-time or full-time students with at least one year of their program completed. A background check and drug screening are required; some preference given to SD residents and

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at time of application.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of SD institutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in filing and processing criminal and civil fingerprints.
• Create master fingerprint folders and scan records into the digital database.
• Update and maintain the computerized criminal history database and process background applications.
