Audition Interviewers and Prospective Student Hosts support Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Vocal Arts Department’s admissions and recruitment efforts by welcoming applicants and prospective students, conducting post-audition interviews, and hosting scheduled campus visits and shadow days. As ambassadors for the department and institution, they share their experiences, answer questions, and help visitors develop a meaningful understanding of their intended program and life at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Requirements
- Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
- Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
- Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
- Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
- Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
- A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
- Federal Work Study student may apply.
- In good disciplinary standing.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Audition Interviews: Work in pairs to meet with applicants following their auditions, helping them reflect on their experience and feel at ease. Engage applicants in thoughtful conversation about their interests and goals, and answer questions about the program and student life. Interview undergraduate applicants and graduate applicants to the MM Opera, MM Vocal Pedagogy, MM Voice Performance, and MFA Musical Theater Pedagogy programs, as appropriate to the interviewer’s own enrollment. Share accurate information and direct questions beyond the scope of the student role to the appropriate faculty or staff member.
- Campus Visits and Shadow Days: Serve as the assigned student host for prospective students visiting the Vocal Arts Department. Welcome visitors and accompany them to approved classes, lunch, and other scheduled activities, offering an authentic view of a typical day at the Conservatory. Share perspectives on coursework, rehearsals, performance opportunities, and campus life. Help prospective students navigate campus, feel included, and connect with the department’s community. Coordinate with designated faculty and staff to confirm visit schedules, arrangements, and expectations.
- Department and Institutional Representation: Represent Boston Conservatory at Berklee with warmth, professionalism, and sound judgment. Foster a welcoming environment for prospective students from varied backgrounds. Communicate promptly about availability, assignments, and scheduling changes, and fulfill commitments reliably.
Qualifications and Skills
- Currently enrolled in the program the student will represent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including attentive listening and the ability to put others at ease.
- Strong knowledge of the student’s own academic program and the student experience within that program.
- Ability to speak positively and authentically about Boston Conservatory at Berklee and support its recruitment efforts.
- Reliability, punctuality, and attention to schedules and details.
- Ability to work independently as a host and collaboratively as part of an interview team.
- Professionalism, discretion, and respect for prospective students and their questions.
Hourly Rate: 16.45
