Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Battery Systems Validation Engineer in Raleigh to support engineering teams in developing UPS power systems and accessories. The role focuses on assembling, testing, and validating batteries, BMS, and control systems to ensure safe, reliable performance in data centers and institutions.

The candidate will perform charge/discharge, thermal, and functional tests, configure BMS, and troubleshoot communications.

Qualifications

Minimum three years of experience with electrical power systems, batteries, UPS systems, or related engineering/technical roles.
Knowledge of UPS battery fundamentals including lead‑acid and lithium‑ion technologies and BMS operation.
Ability to work near energized electrical hazards with arc‑flash PPE and insulated tools.

Responsibilities

Assemble, inspect, configure, and commission UPS battery cabinets, modules, busbars, fuses, breakers, harnesses, and monitoring components.
Execute charge/discharge, runtime, functional, thermal, communications, balancing, and commissioning tests.
Configure Battery Management Systems (BMS) and troubleshoot Modbus, CANBus, Ethernet, and RS-485 communications.
Use electrical test equipment and data-acquisition systems to record results and prepare test reports.
Troubleshoot battery modules, BMS components, controls, sensors, and UPS integration using schematics and wiring diagrams.
Perform authorized work on energized battery systems using PPE and safe-work procedures; maintain a safe test lab.
