Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Battery Responsible Engineer to own battery products from concept through qualification and into vehicle delivery. You will lead a cross-functional team of mechanical, electrical, software, test, and manufacturing engineers, making critical design decisions and managing schedules to meet program milestones.

Responsibilities include defining requirements, managing verification, and ensuring safety analyses and reliability are integrated into the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in battery or electrical power hardware development.
• Experience as Responsible Engineer or technical lead on hardware through qualification.
• Experience decomposing hardware requirements and tracing verification.
• Experience with FMEA/FMECA for electrical or electromechanical hardware.
• Familiarity with lithium-ion batteries and battery test methods.
• Experience building development schedules and driving milestones.
• Experience negotiating requirements and delivery with internal/external customers.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Willingness to travel to remote test/integration sites.

Responsibilities

• Own the product and act as technically accountable owner from concept to delivery.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across design, analysis, software, test, and manufacturing.
• Make technical decisions and close open issues and design reviews.
• Lead design reviews and report status, risks, and readiness to leadership.
• Maintain configuration control and disposition of changes/nonconformances.
• Interface with programs and serve as primary tech point of contact for vehicle programs.
