Blue Origin seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to design, implement, and verify battery management system software for mission-critical spaceflight systems. You will work closely with battery electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure safe, flight-ready software for power management and fault tolerance.

The role is hardware-heavy, requiring reading hardware datasheets, understanding registers, and performing performance tradeoffs.

Qualifications

• BS in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of experience in the field(s) above.
• 2+ years of experience developing battery management systems.
• Embedded software design and development skills in C/C++/Rust with Linux (or similar) scripting experience.
• Debugging skills with cross HW/SW tools (GDB, XSDB, GRMON, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer, Wireshark).
• Background in computer architecture and memory systems.
• Experience with version control systems (Git).
• Ability to work in a team and independently.

Responsabilités

• Developing Board Support Package (BSP) software for new hardware, including driver development.
• Bare‑metal or OS‑level programming for hardware initialization and networking.
• Hands‑on debugging with avionics spaceflight hardware using analyzers and JTAG.
• Work on DO-178C and ISO 26262 certifications.
• Participate in design reviews, HW/SW partitioning, and requirements reviews.
• Benchmarking and deploying code to characterize hardware performance.
• Bring up HW accelerators and hardware modules in modern SoC devices.
• Scripting and Linux development for development kits and sensors.
