Job summary

Altora, Inc. in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Battery Technician to build packs from drawings, assemble harnesses, and work with engineers on new designs.

You will spend time on the bench and in production, turning concepts into flight-worthy hardware, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. The role requires 3+ years in electromechanical or electrical assembly, battery pack experience preferred, and the ability to read schematics and BOMs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building electromechanical or electrical assemblies.
• Battery pack experience preferred; strong harness or precision assembly also valued.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
• Good hand soldering skills.
• IPC J-STD-001 certification is a plus; employer may pay for certification.
• Experience with spot welding, crimping, potting, or insulation on battery assemblies.
• Familiar with DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, and battery cyclers.
• Record-keeping is critical; if not written down, it did not happen.
• US Person eligibility under ITAR may be required.
• Nice to have LiPo/Lithium-ion pack design exposure.

Responsibilities

• Pack build and assembly.
• Sort and match cells; weld interconnects; build harnesses; install BMS boards and sensing leads.
• Work to the drawing, BOM, and the released revision.
• Prototype and first-article work with engineers; build and critique designs.
• Input on fixtures and buildability; define sensible assembly sequences.
• Test and verify with capacity, impedance, and cycle checks; operate cyclers.
• Document procedures and redline drawings to reflect reality.
• Maintain serialization and traceability records.
• Uphold safety and housekeeping; ensure ITAR compliance where relevant.
• Support the shop with cable and harnessing and general electromechanical assembly.
