Job summary

VIVA USA Inc. seeks Batch Operations Technician to support daily batch processing within the client system's batch architecture.

The role involves overnight/on-call work and requires monitoring batch steps, analyzing logs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet service levels. Responsibilities include supporting nightly environments, error resolution, and contributing to improvements in job scheduling, backup/recovery and incident procedures.

Qualifications

• GMI Operator experience with batch steps, monitoring and user queries.
• Batch operations, job scheduling and monitoring tools experience.
• Strong communication with business users, second level support and development teams.
• Experience working with internal teams to improve product and customer experience.
• Ability to document processes and procedures.
• Familiarity with Unix/Mainframe/Windows operating systems.
• Basic SQL programming skills.
• Experience running shell scripts on UNIX or similar environments.
• Ability to handle priority issues with clients and internal teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide production operations support by executing and monitoring batch processes.
• Verify batch results and support nightly production environments across servers.
• Analyze data interface processing exceptions and logs.
• Escalate unresolved issues per on-call procedures.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure timely analysis and resolution.
• Analyze production workflows and suggest improvements to job schedule performance.
• Provide rapid support during outages and assist in workload forecasting.
• Work with design teams to meet backup and recovery SLA requirements.
• Define acceptable service levels with stakeholders and contribute to incident management procedures.

Job description

The client requires Batch Operations Technicians to support daily batch operations requirements for the client Operations and Maintenance.

The client requires the services of a Batch Operations Technician to support the day-to-day batch operation tasks and deliverables related to enterprise batch processing within the client system's batch architecture. This position requires working outside of standard business hours to support overnight batch operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing production operations support by executing and monitoring batch process


• Verifying batch results and supporting nightly production environments across multiple servers.


• Performing first level analysis of all data interface processing exceptions, logs


• Escalating unresolved issues and problems according to defined on-call support procedures.


• The technician will resolve errors and escalating issues, when necessary, by working with functional teams to ensure timely analysis and resolution, in alignment with application service level objectives.

Additional duties include:

• Supporting the batch monitoring team by analyzing production workflows and recommending improvements to job schedule performance


• Providing rapid support during outages and assisting in workload automation forecasting


• Collaborating with the technology design team to ensure backup and recovery systems meet business continuity SLA requirements


• Working with application support teams and business stakeholders to define acceptable service levels and develop incident management procedures

Skill - Required / Desired - Amount of Experience

• Experience as a GMI Operator and Support specialist capable of monitoring/managing batch steps, analyzing and responding to user queries. - Required - 5 Years


• Experience with batch operations, job scheduling and monitoring tools. - Required - 5 Years


• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate issues and status updates with business users, second level support, and development teams. - Required - 5 Years


• Experience working with internal teams to identify opportunities to improve the product and customer experience. - Required - 5 Years


• Demonstrated experience documenting processes and procedures as required. - Required - 5 Years


• Experience and knowledge on Operating Systems such as Unix, Mainframe and Windows. - Required - 5 Years


• Experience with relational database skills, Basic SQL programming - Required - 5 Years


• Experience running shell scripts on a UNIX or similar environment; and reviewing log files. - Required - 5 Years


• Experience with priority issues, calls with external/internal clients for troubleshooting issues and problem solving. - Required - 5 Years


• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats. - Required

• The candidates must be available to rotate between three shifts (5 PM to 1 AM, 10 PM to 6 AM and 1 AM to 9 AM)
