Job summary

Summit Bechtel Reserve seeks a Base Camp Operations Lead to support facility care, logistics, and residential services for all programs, guests, and staff.

You will supervise Base Camp staff, assist with hiring and onboarding, coordinate HQ setups, and ensure safety, cleanliness, and inventory control.

This role requires 2+ years of team leadership, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to undergo background screening; scouting/camping experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 18+
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to obtain Summit Driving Permit
  • Required 2+ yr. leading teams, prefer 2+ Summit employment
  • Preferred: Scouting/Camping experience
  • Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Base Camp daily operations, staff supervision, and departmental asset management
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and scheduling of Base Camp staff
  • Set up and manage Base Camp HQ, seasonal offices, and Staff Camp logistics
  • Maintain camp cleanliness, supply inventory, and proper waste disposal procedures
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure proper use of vehicles and equipment
  • Support smooth arrival/departure operations and provide responsive service to all guests and staff
  • Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
  • Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
  • Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Physical & Practical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 9 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
  • Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
