Job summary

The Screaming Yak in Spokane is seeking both full-time and part-time bartenders. Night and weekend availability is required, and staff members are expected to be friendly, a bit sassy, and dedicated to great service in a Jack Daniels–themed menu environment.

We are a locally owned spot serving lunch and dinner daily, with breakfast on weekends. Successful candidates will demonstrate hospitality, multitasking, and teamwork while delivering memorable service with a smile.

Qualifications

• WSFWC Card required.
• MAST Class 12 or 13 required.
• At least 1 year of restaurant service experience preferred.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
• Ability to listen to customer needs and respond appropriately.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player with a courteous, friendly, professional demeanor.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift 50+ pounds.

Responsibilities

• Follow all policies and procedures.
• Attend all required meetings and be punctual.
• Take orders and payments from customers for food and beverages following service steps.
• Upsell by proactive suggestions and promotions.
• Deliver and announce food and drinks accurately and promptly.
• Accommodate special requests from guests.
• Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely delivery.
• Address issues politely and quickly to maintain guest satisfaction.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, promotions, and prep times.
• Complete opening, running, closing duties and side work as assigned.
• Follow health and safety standards and keep a clean workspace.

Overview

The Screaming Yak is currently hiring full and part time bartender positions. Night and weekend availability required. The Screaming Yak strives to be great. The locally owned supplier of great food, great drinks and great times – all served up with a great name. Our staff members need to be kind and friendly but a little sassy too. They need to be dedicated and proud to serve great food and great drinks. They need to be serious about providing all this greatness with seriously great service. The Screaming Yak features Jack Daniels-centric food and beverages. We are open for lunch and dinner every day and throw in breakfast service on the weekends.

Wage

• Pay range for position: $17.13to $17.13per hour
• Earn tips

Responsibilities/Duties

• Follow all policies and procedures
• On time and attend all meetings
• Take orders and payments from customers for food and beverages following all steps of service guidelines
• Upsell by being proactive with suggestive selling and alerting customers to specials, promotional items and/or events
• Deliver and announce food and drinks to guests with efficiency, accuracy, and enthusiasm
• Accommodate and fulfill any special requests for guests
• Communicate and work with kitchen and bar staff to ensure orders are delivered timely and according to The Screaming Yak standards
• Correct any issues courteously and quickly
• Check with customers throughout their meal to ensure that they are enjoying their visit and take action to correct any problems
• Maintain a working knowledge of all food and drink menu items, promotions, ingredients, and prep time
• Assist team members with any additional tasks as needed
• Complete all assigned opening, running, closing duties and side work
• Follow all health and alcohol beverage service standards and maintain a clean workspace
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation and safety guidelines

Skills/Experience

• Washington State Food Worker Card (WSFWC)
• Washington State MAST/Class 12 or 13
• One (1) year previous restaurant service experience preferred
• Willing to work a flexible schedule and weekends
• Ability to effectively listen to and respond to customer needs
• Strong work ethic, reliable, aware of the details
• Ability to multitask efficiently
• Team player with a courteous, friendly and professional demeanor
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
