Job summary

The Screaming Yak in Spokane, WA is hiring for part-time server positions. We’re a locally owned spot serving great food and drinks with a lively, friendly atmosphere.

Servers should be kind, customer-focused and ready to deliver excellent service. Responsibilities include taking orders and payments, delivering meals with accuracy, upselling specials, coordinating with kitchen and bar staff, and maintaining a clean, compliant workspace.

Qualifications

• Washington State Food Worker Card (WSFWC) required.
• MAST/Class 12 or 13 required.
• 1 year restaurant service experience preferred.
• Willing to work flexible schedule and weekends.
• Ability to listen to customer needs and respond appropriately.
• Standing for prolonged periods and lifting 50+ pounds may be required.

Responsibilities

• Take orders and payments from customers for food and beverages.
• Deliver and announce food and drinks with efficiency and enthusiasm.

Overview

The Screaming Yak is currently hiring for part time server positions.

The Screaming Yak strives to be great. The locally owned supplier of great food, great drinks and great times – all served up with a great name.

Our staff members need to be kind and friendly but a little sassy too. They need to be dedicated and proud to serve great food and great drinks. They need to be serious about providing all this greatness with seriously great service.

The Screaming Yak features Jack Daniels-centric food and beverages. We are open for lunch and dinner every day and throw in breakfast service on the weekends.

Wage

• Pay range for position: $17.13 to $17.13 per hour
• Earn tips

Responsibilities/Duties

• Follow all policies and procedures
• On time and attend all meetings
• Take orders and payments from customers for food and beverages following all steps of service guidelines
• Upsell by being proactive with suggestive selling and alerting customers to specials, promotional items and/or events
• Deliver and announce food and drinks to guests with efficiency, accuracy, and enthusiasm
• Accommodate and fulfill any special requests for guests
• Communicate and work with kitchen and bar staff to ensure orders are delivered timely and according to The Screaming Yak standards
• Correct any issues courteously and quickly
• Check with customers throughout their meal to ensure that they are enjoying their visit and take action to correct any problems
• Maintain a working knowledge of all food and drink menu items, promotions, ingredients, and prep time
• Assist team members with any additional tasks as needed
• Complete all assigned opening, running, closing duties and side work
• Follow all health and alcohol beverage service standards and maintain a clean workspace
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation and safety guidelines

Skills/Experience

• Washington State Food Worker Card (WSFWC)
• Washington State MAST/Class 12 or 13
• One (1) year previous restaurant service experience preferred
• Willing to work a flexible schedule and weekends
• Ability to effectively listen to and respond to customer needs
• Strong work ethic, reliable, aware of the details
• Ability to multitask efficiently
• Team player with a courteous, friendly and professional demeanor
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
