Job summary

Shenandoah Hospitality in Stanley, VA is seeking a Barista for a seasonal role at Shenandoah National Park. You will greet customers, prepare coffee and espresso drinks, and serve beverages following established recipes and standards.

Join our Food & Beverage team to gain hospitality experience in a stunning mountain setting. You’ll handle POS transactions, stock supplies, keep the cafe clean, and deliver memorable guest experiences during day, night, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience: minimum 1 year in a restaurant establishment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to count change and reconcile paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and take drink orders.
• Prepare and serve beverages such as coffee and espresso-based drinks.
• Follow drink recipes and standards set forth by the employer.
• Promote and recommend menu options to customers.
• Handle payments and operate the POS system.
• Restock and manage cafe supplies; keep area clean and organized.

This is a seasonal position with anticipated dates as indicated below:

• Big Meadows Lodge - estimated start date 4/26/2027 and anticipated end date of 11/9/2027
• Skyland Resort - estimated start date 3/24/2027 and anticipated end date of 11/30/2027

Hourly rate of pay: $13.00

Title: Barista

Department: Food & Beverage
Summary of Position: Responsible for preparing coffee shop orders in accordance with established recipes and Company standards.

Position Duties:

• Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking drink orders
• Preparing and serving beverages such as coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks
• Follow drink recipes and standards set forth by Starbucks
• Promoting and recommending menu options to customers
• Taking payment from customers
• Tracking and ordering inventory for cafe and beverage supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, napkins and cups
• Maintaining espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines and other equipment by cleaning
• Keeping the work environment and cafe seating area clean, sanitary and organized
• Operate point of sale system
• Restock merchandise and supplies

Position Requirements:

• Excellent customer service and people skills
• Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, holiday shifts
• Must have excellent communication skills and be able to count change and reconcile paperwork
• Majority of shift will be spent on feet in a fast-paced environment, in close proximity to other people

Education and Experience: Experience: Minimum (1) year in a restaurant establishment
