Job summary

Elgin Country Club in Elgin, IL, is seeking a Houseman / Banquet Set-Up to prepare, maintain, and reset banquet spaces for events. You will assist with buffet setups, service support, and equipment care, contributing to a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.

The role emphasizes physical readiness, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and with the Events team to ensure flawless event execution.

Qualifications

• Experience in event setup or banquet service preferred.
• Able to lift up to 20-30 lbs with assistance.
• Comfortable standing and walking for long periods.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down banquet rooms and event spaces according to event specifications (tables, chairs, linens, staging, AV equipment, etc.).
• Manage setup and breakdown of plateware, stemware, glassware, and other service items; maintain inventory of banquet supplies.
• Assist with buffet setups and monitor/refill food stations for presentation and cleanliness.
• Provide ongoing bus support during events, keeping service and food areas tidy and organized.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all event spaces, hallways, and storage areas.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies safely and efficiently.
• Support the Banquet Captain and Events team to ensure timely setups and turnovers.
• Perform light maintenance or cleaning tasks as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols and proper lifting procedures.
