Job summary

Embassy Suites Cleveland Rockside in Independence Township, OH seeks a Banquet Captain to supervise banquet staff during functions, oversee setup and service, and ensure safe, efficient operations. Shifts include day, night, weekends, and holidays with flexible hours and a $21.00–$24.00 hourly rate.

The role requires two years of hotel banquet service, a current Food Handler Card, and ability to manage BEOs, staff schedules, and guest relations while maintaining quality service standards.

Qualifications

• Two years of hotel banquet food/beverage service.
• Hold a current Food Handler Card (or be willing to obtain at our cost).
• Able to process paperwork.
• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware; for example different table types.
• Ability to understand verbal English sufficient to understand requests from supervisors and guests.

Responsibilities

• Supervise banquet staff in completion of assigned functions and set-up.
• Oversee the service and break-down functions in a safe and efficient manner.
• Check server and BEOs to ensure information is accurate.
• Coordinate with banquet staff set-ups, changes, and time schedules for all functions.
• Verify staffing levels for the next day's functions and adjust schedules accordingly.
• Operate as a banquet server when needed; setting up, greeting, and serving guests.
• Inspect banquet areas at end of function to ensure equipment is returned and areas are clean.
• Coach and counsel associates as needed and administer corrective actions when necessary.
• Know the menu for each function and be able to explain major ingredients and preparation method.
