Job summary

Shaner Group is seeking a courteous Banquet Server to join our events team. You will set up banquet spaces, greet guests, and deliver food and beverages to tables in line with hotel standards.

This role requires flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Prior banquet experience is preferred, as is ServSafe or other food-safety training.

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus to assist diverse guests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Experience in banquet operations or hospitality preferred.
• Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests and staff.
• Minimum age to serve alcoholic beverages; alcohol-safety training (e.g., TIPS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up assigned tables and service areas for events.
• Retrieve and serve beverages and food orders to tables according to hotel specifications.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
• Assist guests with seating and respond to inquiries during events.
• Handle guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
• Monitor sanitation and safety standards in service areas.
• Attend to special function requirements and maintain guest relations.

Job description

• Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations.


• Maintains food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel, Shaner, and Franchise specifications.


• Greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating at tables.


• Take and retrieve guests' alcoholic beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques, when specified on function requirements.


• Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with departmental standards and function requirements.


• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests; always maintain positive guest relations.


• Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.


• Handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.


• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.


• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Banquet Server ensures quality customer service to our guests during events and banquets. Set up assigned tables, retrieve and serve beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications and group requirements; maintain cleanliness and condition of the work areas and equipment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in banquet operations and/or hospitality preferred.


• Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.


• High school graduate or equivalent, some college preferred.


• Minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages.


• ServSafe and/or food safety training.


• Alcohol awareness training (such as TIPS).


• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.


• Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.
