Job summary

DOUBLETREE BY HILTON ROCHESTER is seeking experienced Banquet Servers in Rochester, NY to set up banquet rooms, greet guests, and deliver food and beverages with precision. You will attend pre-event roll calls and ensure courteous service throughout each function, including bussing and line control.

Emphasis on maintaining high standards, adhering to hotel policies, and resetting rooms for the next function.

Qualifications

• Hospitality and food/beverage service knowledge.
• Ability to greet guests and respond to requests politely.
• Experience with setting up banquet rooms and serving courses.

• Set up banquet room as instructed by Banquet Captain to include linen, service-ware and glassware.
• Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.
• Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the Banquet Captain to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.
• Promptly bus dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.
• Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.

AFP Management Corporation is looking for an experienced Banquet Servers for ourDoubletree by Hilton Hotel located in Rochester, NY. This is an exciting opportunity to show your skills and shine with this great team!

The Doubletree by Hilton, Rochester features an open glass enclosed tropical atrium setting and has been completely renovated from top to bottom.In addition to having a full-service restaurant on site, with 249 guestrooms, along with over 12,000 sq. ft of meeting space.

We are conveniently located off I-390 and north of the New York State Thruway, in addition to downtown Rochester and the Rochester International Airport.

EssentialFunctions:

• Set up banquet room as instructed by Banquet Captain to include linen, service-ware and glassware.

• Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.

• Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteousmanner.

• Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation ofthe Banquet Captain to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.Promptly bus dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal atthe end of the meal or function.

• Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overallsatisfaction.

• Once banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to Captain’sspecifications to ensure the cleanliness of the room for the followingfunction.

Other Functions:

• Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Embassy from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
• Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Embassy Suites Columbus Airport rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

• Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restockingBanquet shelves with supplies.
• Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned to adhere to health standards
• Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to servingalcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Individual must posses the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities.

• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
• Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate simple instructions.
• Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable thesafe application of products and processes within the hotel.
• Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to transport up to 30 pounds maximum. through a crowded room on a continuous basisthroughout the shift.
• Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker., Rolling Carts
