Job summary

The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, NC is seeking a banquet server to deliver exceptional guest service across upscale events. The role requires knowledge of food & beverage items, setup assistance, and timely service for each function.

Pay starts at 7.50 USD per hour plus a portion of the banquet service charge. Candidates should be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years banquet or restaurant server experience in an upscale venue.
• Must be able to work a flexible shift including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours and lift up to 20 lbs.
• Able to bend, kneel, push and pull during shifts.
• Effective reading, writing and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Report to work on time, neat, and in clean uniform.
• Serve guests with pre-determined menu selections and assist in setup.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, origins, tastes, and preparation.
• Relay guest orders to the kitchen accurately and promptly.
• Transport items to tables and ensure guest satisfaction.
• Set up and break down buffets and beverage stations per event orders.
• Anticipate guest needs and respond to concerns promptly.
• Maintain back-of-house cleanliness and safety; comply with hotel standards.
• Collaborate professionally with colleagues and supervisors.

Job Location: NC The Umstead Hotel and Spa - Cary, NC 27513, Position Type: Full Time, Job Shift: Flex AM/PM, The banquet server will serve the guests needs by providing exceptional knowledge of food & beverage menu items, as well as, information regarding preparation methods. They also assist in set-up of linen, china, glass, silver, and buffets/ food displays for each function in accordance with The Umstead Hotel standards.*pay range includes tips*Pay starts at $7.50/hour plus a percentage of the banquet service charge

Basic Functions

• Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in a clean uniform.
• Participates in the service and removal of food during banquetfunctions by offering pre-determined menu selections to each table;
• maintainingknowledge of each selection's, origin, taste, and preparation method;
• communicating guest orders including any special needs or requests to thekitchen;
• checking completed kitchen orders with the guest's original order;
• transporting items to the guest table in a timely manner to ensure proper foodquality and making self available to guests, clients, and group contacts toensure satisfaction.
• Setting up, maintaining, inventorying and breaking down all beverage breaks and food buffets/ food displaysSetting up of linen, china, glass, silver, for each function according to the banquet event order.
• Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests.
• Being able to consistently perform tasks within a given time frame to insure all event components are setup on time.
• Being able to consistently perform tasks with little direct supervision.
• Maintain the back of the house cleanliness and safety

• Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
• In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your Manager.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required1-2 years banquet or restaurant server experience in an upscale hotel, restaurant, or country club.
• Previous four or five star banquet serving experience preferred.
• Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes nights, weekends and holidaysMust be able to continuously stand/ walk a minimum of 8 hours
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. over the course of a shift.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
• All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per The Umstead Hotel standards.
• Will be occasionally required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other element
