Job summary

Shaner Hotels seeks an experienced Banquet Manager to lead the banquet department, guiding staff and driving a strong service and management philosophy focused on quality guest experiences. The role directs, coordinates, and evaluates operations, including training, scheduling, performance appraisals, and budget management.

The position requires supervisory experience in banquet operations, safety and food-handling knowledge, and strong communication skills with guests and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in banquet operations.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to communicate with guests, management, and co-workers clearly.
• High school graduate or equivalent; some college preferred.
• ServSafe and/or food safety training.
• Alcohol awareness training (e.g., TIPS).
• Familiarity with sales and marketing tools for banquets and BEOs.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to perform basic math and use measurement tools.
• Ability to prepare budgets and ensure cost controls.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Knowledge of local activities and attractions for clientele.

Responsibilities

• Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Ensure compliance with daily operational procedures by the Banquet Department.
• Maintain safety and quality per hotel, Shaner, and Franchise specs.
• Establish standards and procedures for operations and safe conditions.
• Develop short- and long-range financial objectives for the Banquet Department.
• Respond to and resolve guest issues related to the department.
• Communicate with General Manager and other managers and staff.
• Manage employee performance to ensure productivity and a positive work environment.
• Maintain the Banquet Department’s annual budget.
• Perform other assigned duties.
