Job summary

The Umstead Hotel & Spa in Cary, NC is seeking a part-time Banquet Houseman to support events with setup, breakdown, and attentive service in both FOH and BOH areas. You will ensure rooms are arranged per the BEO and hotel standards, and you may assist with linens, refreshments, and room resets.

Ideal candidates are able to lift up to 75 lbs, stand for long periods, and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent preferred.
• 1-2 years as banquet houseman in a hotel preferred.
• Must be fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Set up event rooms in accordance with hotel standards and BEO/diagrams.
• Assist servers with refreshes and cleaning of rooms during breaks.
• Transport/move boxes and equipment within the hotel as needed.
• Break down and reset rooms at the conclusion of an event.
• Protect hotel equipment and assets from damage.
• Clean and maintain banquet areas (vacuum, dust, mop, wipe).

Job DetailsJob Location: NC The Umstead Hotel and Spa - Cary, NC 27513Position Type: Part TimeJob Shift: Flex AM/PMThe banquet houseman is responsible for event setup, breakdown and cleanliness of all banquet FOH and BOH areas.

Job Requirements:

• Able to lift a minimum of 75lbs over the course of a shift
• Able to stand/ walk for an extended period over the course of a shift
• Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes nights, weekends and holidays

Leadership:

• Setting up the event rooms in accordance with hotel standards, taking direction from the BEO and/or diagrams.
• Placing bottled water and candy amenity out for each guest in the AM and refreshing during lunch
• Steaming/ Ironing linens
• Performing room turns as needed
• Assisting servers with refreshes/ cleaning of rooms during breaks
• Assisting guest to transport/ move boxes/ equipment within hotel as need
• Working independently with little supervision in breaking down/ resetting rooms at the conclusion of an event.
• Taking care to protect the hotels equipment and assets from damage
• Cleaning and maintaining the banquet areas in accordance with hotel standards
• Vacuuming, Dusting, Mopping, Wiping, Sweeping
• Possibly learning to use the carpet shampooer
• Organizing and maintaining banquet linen storage
• Organizing and maintaining banquet equipment storage
• Polishing glasses for the meeting room setups
