Job summary

Oak View Group, operator of the St. Charles Convention Center, seeks a Banquet Captain to coordinate and oversee the banquet function, ensuring flawless execution and guest satisfaction.

This role pays $22.00–$24.00 per hour and requires a high school diploma or GED along with banquet experience. You will lead staff, review banquet orders, coordinate with the Executive Chef, manage equipment and inventory, and ensure timely service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of related banquet experience or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in banquet service is a plus.
• Must meet state age requirements for alcohol service.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Review assigned banquet staff functions and menus before events.
• Conduct pre-banquet meetings to review appearance, stations, and event orders.
• Coordinate with Executive Chef and event coordinator to ensure plans are met.
• Ensure quantities of china, glassware, linens, and other items are available.
• Manage inventory and secure requisitions for missing items.
• Check room setup and confirm food quantities and timing with the Chef.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of equipment after use.
• Conduct random audits during functions to evaluate food and service.
• Support upsell opportunities and ensure service at proper temperatures.
• Maintain attendance and perform other duties as required.
