Job summary

Kimpton Shorebreak Resort in Huntington Beach, CA, is seeking a banquet captain to lead all banquet functions and ensure exceptionally personal guest experiences. The role includes coordinating catering setups, supervising service, and maintaining high standards of hospitality.

You will work with event teams, coordinate timelines with kitchen staff, and ensure sanitation and procedural compliance while supporting scheduling and guest-focused service.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a banquet captain or senior server.
• Hotel banquet experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of Excel, Word, and POS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Food Handler Certificate (if applicable).
• Strong organizational abilities and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized banquet experiences and lead all banquet functions including catering setup.
• Supervise timely, efficient and friendly service of all food and beverages at banquets/events.
• Coordinate meeting spaces for banquet and catering events per BEOs with level of service.
• Collaborate with kitchen on timing of food preparation to meet event orders.
• Adhere to sanitation procedures for food handling safety.
• Assist with scheduling of employees.
• Complete guest checks accurately and deliver outstanding guest service.
