Job summary

Butler's Pantry is seeking a Banquet Captain to supervise event service and lead the front-of-house team. This role focuses on client interaction, service etiquette, and maintaining professional guidelines across events.

Candidates should exhibit extensive hospitality experience, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate with management to deliver memorable events. This is a full-time, on-site position within the hospitality team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a supervisory role at events and oversee service staff.
• Motivate staff to maximize efficiency, quality and productivity.
• Mentor, train, coach and provide feedback to the service team.
• Coordinate with management and read/implement the Service Manual.
• Plan ahead for events with staff assignments and timelines.
• Monitor staff check-in/out and adjust coverage as needed.
• Ensure venue closing checklist is completed after events.

And we are looking for someone to be our Banquet Captain.

The Banquet Captain is a supervisory position, responsible for the service responsibilities at events. The scope of this position considers interaction with clients and their guests, proper service etiquette and procedures, teamwork, and the ability to uphold the professional service guidelines set forth by Butler's Pantry. This position requires the competence to assume leadership in the guidance and management of service staff. The Banquet Captain has the responsibility and opportunity to contribute considerably to a memorable event through ownership of the service role.

Essential Responsibilities

GO THE DISTANCE (The necessary stuff)

• Maintain a supervisory role at events with the ability to perform common tasks and jump into any role when needed
• Motivate service staff to maintain focus on assignment at all times in an effort to maximize efficiency, quality and productivity
• Support high-quality service efforts by mentoring, training, coaching, counseling and offering constructive feedback to service team
• Follow up and follow through on phone calls, emails, and other work-related correspondence with the Butler's Pantry management team
• Read and take responsibility for understanding the current Service Manual and its contents; serve as a source of clarification for service staff members
• Remain informed and observe all company policies and procedures
• Planning ahead of event. Service Captain's come to the events with their game plan made. They have dissected the event notes & assigned teams/roles for the front of house staff.
• Take responsibility for the team’s time. While the team clocks in themselves through Nowsta, Service Captains check the staff in & out of event. At the end of an event, they review the team’s time & adjust based on when they checked in & out.
• Service Captains, Chefs & Facility Managers go through venue closing checklist & lock-up together

Additional Qualifications And Requirements

Extensive experience in the hospitality industry is required. This position requires the ability to work successfully in a team-based, client-focused service environment. It also requires the following competencies for success:
