Job Title: Banquet Captain

Department: F&B

Reports To: Banquet Manager; Director of Catering

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

The Banquet Captain oversees events (including weekends), manages setup and breakdown of function rooms, and ensures customer satisfaction in a timely, courteous, and efficient manner. The role promotes teamwork and ensures smooth event execution.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee events and manage setup/breakdown of function rooms
  • Serve as the main contact for members/guests
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings reviewing BEOs with staff
  • Coordinate with the kitchen (sous chef) to enhance customer experience
  • Open bottled wine for guests
  • Assist with bussing and setting tables as needed
  • Perform buffet setup and breakdown if required
  • Communicate effectively with support staff and management
  • Supervise banquet functions to ensure efficiency and smooth operation
  • Ensure compliance with departmental and company policies
  • Maintain knowledge of service requirements for functions
  • Organize functions and prepare in accordance with standards
  • Check storage areas for supplies, organization, and cleanliness
  • Requisition additional supplies as needed
  • Instruct staff on cleanliness standards
  • Inspect function areas for cleanliness and proper setup; address deficiencies
  • Manage staff attendance and coordinate breaks
  • Assign stations and side work to servers
  • Communicate changes throughout shifts
  • Identify and delegate tasks to uphold standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Work Environment:
  • Stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs, and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Work in hot, humid, and noisy environments
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • John Creek Pouring Permit required
  • TIPS Certification (application provided upon employment)
  • Experience in food and beverage preferred
  • Professional attitude, strong work ethics, team player
  • Flexible scheduling and additional hours as needed
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently and calmly
  • High service standards and order entry skills
