Job summary

Opal Collection in Jensen Beach, Florida, is seeking a Banquet Captain to oversee events from setup to breakdown, supervise servers and bartenders, and ensure flawless execution.

You will attend BEO meetings, train staff, manage inventory and linens, coordinate with the Banquet Manager, and work with chefs to present attractive displays. Hospitality background preferred, two years of experience recommended; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in a related banquet/culinary/hospitality role preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the rooms, catering, food & beverage and hospitality professions.
• Hospitality or related degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and coordinates all banquet events from setup to breakdown.
• Supervises banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff during events.
• Attend all BEO meetings as scheduled.
• Train all banquet staff as required.
• Maintain accurate inventory of all banquet equipment.
• Coordinate with Banquet Manager in ordering/purchasing equipment.
• Maintain and coordinate order of all linens for banquets.
• Know and train Banquet Captains in use and setup of in-house AV equipment.
• Meet and greet group contacts as needed.
• Monitor and manage bar inventories for banquets.
• Ensure Captain’s reports are received for each event.
• Develop written procedures for all areas of banquet staff.
• Communicate with Restaurant Managers regarding event impact on outlets.
• Quality control all events prior to event.
• Track improvements to improve operation.
• Insure all spandex laundry is done and clean as needed.
• Complete Banquet posting sheet and distribute at end of day.
• Work with Chef and Banquet Captains to display our food creatively.

• Insure that a Captain’s report is received for each event

• Insure all spandex laundry is done and clean as needed
• Complete Banquet posting sheet and distribute at the end of each day / coordinate completion when off schedule
• Work with Chef and Banquet Captains to have creative and unique ways to display our food.

Qualifications:

• Hospitality degree or Four-year college degree preferred however not required
• A minimum of two years’ experience required in a related position with this company or other organization(s)
• Requires thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the rooms, catering, food & beverage and hospitality professions.
