Qualifications

Position Summary:

The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising staff, operations, and guest experiences at banquet events in hotel spaces, restaurants, and private functions.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Inspect banquet rooms and stations for setup, sanitation, and safety.
  2. Ensure readiness and proper setup.
  3. Meet clients and guests, verify reservations, and escort guests.
  4. Coordinate food service between kitchen and staff.
  5. Ensure proper food temperature and presentation.
  6. Handle guest complaints and act as liaison during events.
  7. Assign and complete opening/closing duties.
  8. Conduct pre-event meetings with staff.
  9. Oversee food and beverage service, monitor staff, and troubleshoot as needed.
  10. Operate POS system, manage billing, and post accurately.
  11. Audit checks, monitor staffing, serve guests, and manage inventory.
  12. Follow food safety regulations and operate hotel systems.
  13. Maintain cleanliness and perform opening/closing procedures.
  14. Handle cash procedures and ensure legal compliance.
  15. Engage guests professionally, adhere to grooming standards, and assist other hotel F&B teams.
  16. Resolve guest issues and perform additional tasks as directed.
Education

High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

Previous hotel or related experience preferred.

Hours

Varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Skills & Abilities
  • Pass TIPS and food handler certifications.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Legal age to serve alcohol.
  • Flexible availability, positive attitude, professional appearance.
  • Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail skills.
