Job Summary:
The Banquet Captain is responsible for the supervision and execution of banquet events, ensuring exceptional guest experiences in line with Marriott’s high service standards. This role involves coordinating with culinary and service teams to deliver seamless events, from setup to breakdown, while leading and motivating banquet staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and assist in the setup, execution, and breakdown of banquet events including meetings, weddings, corporate functions, and special events.
Ensure all Marriott and Waterford Hotel Group brand standards and service guidelines are followed by staff.
Act as the main point of contact during events for clients and internal departments, ensuring all details are executed as planned.
Coordinate and communicate with kitchen and AV staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
Lead pre-event meetings with staff to review assignments, timelines, and service expectations.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude while providing leadership and training to banquet servers and bartenders.
Monitor event timelines and adjust service accordingly to meet the flow and pacing of events.
Resolve any guest or operational issues quickly and efficiently to ensure satisfaction.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of all banquet spaces, storage areas, and equipment.
Maintain accurate documentation including BEOs (Banquet Event Orders), attendance sheets, and post-event checks and reports.
Uphold Marriott’s commitment to excellence, brand values, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout shift.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
