Job summary

Avocet Hospitality Group in Charleston, SC, is seeking a Banquet Captain to orchestrate unforgettable group experiences across our historic venues, including a rooftop and gallery spaces.

You will direct BEOs, supervise banquet teams, coordinate with sales and culinary staff, and be the on-floor liaison delivering swift, artistic service under pressure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months as banquet or full-service dining server.
• Supervisory experience or high-volume event background a major plus.
• SC Alcohol Server Certification (within 30 days) and ServSafe, company-paid.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Production: Take full ownership of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to execute flawless events.
• Lead the Ensemble: Supervise, mentor, and bring out the best in banquet staff and setup teams.
• Coordinate the Magic: Partner with Group Sales, culinary team, and partners to ensure perfection.
• Steal the Show: Act as the liaison for clients on the floor with swift problem-solving and flair.

The Role (Your Script)

As our Banquet Captain, you aren't just managing events; you are the ultimate host, orchestrator, and master of ceremonies for unforgettable group experiences.

• Direct the Production: Take full ownership of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to execute flawless events that leave our clients thinking, "Damn, that was good fun."
• Lead the Ensemble: Supervise, mentor, and bring out the best in our banquet servers, bartenders, and setup teams. You set the stage for high energy and seamless teamwork.
• Coordinate the Magic: Partner with Group Sales, our exceptional culinary team, and outside partners to ensure every detail-from specialty equipment to timing is absolute perfection.
• Steal the Show: Act as the direct liaison and primary point of contact for our clients on the floor , jumping in with swift problem-solving and artistic flair whenever needed.

What You Bring

• The Experience: Minimum of 6 months as a banquet or full-service dining server. Prior supervisory experience or a background in high-volume event execution is a major plus.
• The Mindset: A vibrant, welcoming attitude and an uncompromising eye for detail. You are organized under pressure, self-motivated, and inherently collaborative.
• The Certifications: Ready to shine with South Carolina Alcohol Server Certification (may be obtained in the first 30 days) and ServSafe Food Handler (company-paid).
• The Flexibility: Ready to keep things moving untethered from a desk, stepping across our historic indoor spaces and rooftop venues. A flexible schedule (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) is part of the gig.
