We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to Join our Pack as a Banquet Bartender.

Essential job duties include:

• Able to work all types of events anywhere on campus.
• Able to work by themselves.
• Proper set up and break down of bars, including setup events, working the event, and clean up after the event, such as removing all catering items from the event space(s), washing any dirty catering items, and returning all cleaned and restocked items to the appropriate places within the catering stock rooms.
• Communicating with clients and guests as needed.
• Catering support during downtime.
• Making sure the kitchen is clean before they leave when in Talley (taking out trash, ensuring sinks and counters are clean, floors are swept and mopped, and dishwasher is drained and turned off).
• Able to check for identification ensuring no minors are being served.

NC State Dining provides campus-wide food services to students, staff, and faculty on the North Carolina State University Campus. NC State Dining operates 11 cafes, 3 food courts, 6 dining halls, 3 markets, 2 restaurants, vending, a nutritional counseling service, and a catering department. The department employs approximately 1000 temporary and student employees and approximately 165 permanent EHRA and SHRA employees.

This is an hourly position with a 10-11 month assignment, with a mandatory 32-day break at the end of 11 months.

Requirements and Preferences:

Other Work/Responsibilities:

• Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university as a whole and enrich the quality of life for the campus community and support student success.
• Work as a cohesive team member and play an integral part in creating a positive work environment.
• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work will also be considered.
• At least six months of bartending experience of providing full bar service including set-up, breakdown, mixed drinks, etc.

Department Required Skills:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• General knowledge of beer and wine, including the proper handling of beer and wine.
• Proper operation and service of keg beer.
• Work for extended periods of time without sitting. Position requires standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, supervisors, and peers.
• Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
• Provide outstanding customer service, including the ability to remain professional and respectful under pressure when dealing with difficult situations.
• Excellence in completing all tasks.
• Ability to adapt to the changing customer volume level with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently as necessary.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

At least one year of bartending experience.
