Essential Job Duties

• Able to work all types of events anywhere on campus
• Able to work independently
• Proper setup and breakdown of bars, including setting up events, working the event, and cleaning up afterwards (removing catering items, washing dishes, returning items to stock rooms)
• Communicating with clients and guests as needed
• Providing catering support during downtime
• Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area, especially when working in Talley (taking out trash, cleaning sinks and counters, sweeping and mopping floors, draining and turning off the dishwasher)
• Checking IDs to ensure no minors are served

Work Environment and Department Info

NC State Dining provides campus-wide food services, operating cafes, food courts, dining halls, markets, restaurants, vending, nutritional counseling, and catering. The department employs about 1000 temporary and student employees, and approximately 165 permanent staff.

Position Details

This is an hourly position with a 10-11 month assignment and a mandatory 32-day break at the end of the term.

Work Schedule

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least six months of bartending experience, including full bar service

Required Skills

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Knowledge of beer and wine handling and serving
• Ability to operate kegs and serve beer
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Experience

At least one year of bartending experience.
