Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Banquet Bartender to support campus events across NC State Dining venues. You will setup bars, work events, and clean up afterward, ensuring compliance with ID checks and safety standards.

Preference is given to candidates with at least six months of bartending experience and a strong focus on customer service. Shifts include weekends; the role is an hourly, part-time position on campus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalency is required.
  • At least six months of bartending experience providing full bar service.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and knowledgeable about beer and wine.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with customers and peers.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and break down bars for events across campus.
  • Work events independently as needed and communicate with clients and guests.
  • Assist in catering support during downtime and ensure bar areas are clean and organized.
  • Check identifications to prevent serving minors and adhere to campus policies.
  • Potential to assist in other locations as necessary.

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to Join our Pack as a Banquet Bartender.

Essential job duties include:

  • Able to work all types of events anywhere on campus
  • Able to work by themselves
  • Proper set up and break down of bars. Setup events, work the event, and clean up after the event, including removing all catering items from the event space(s), washing any dirty catering items and returning all cleaned and restocked items to the appropriate places within the catering stock rooms.
  • Communicating with clients and guests as needed
  • Catering support during down time
  • Making sure the kitchen is clean before they leave when in Talley (taking out trash, sinks and counters are clean, floors are swept and mopped, dishwasher is drained and turned off).
  • Able to check for identification ensuring no minors are being served.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Dining business needs are met. Position may be asked to assist in other locations as necessary.

NC State Dining provides campus wide food services to students, staff, and faculty on the North Carolina State University Campus. NC State Dining operates 11 cafes, 3 food courts and 6 dining halls, 3 markets, 2 restaurants, vending, a nutritional counseling service, and a catering department. The department employs approximately 1000 temporary and student employees and approximately 190 permanent EHRA and SHRA employees.

This is an hourly position, that includes a State required 32-day break at the end of 11 months. Excellent performance during this time may provide an opportunity to renew employment and/or advance.
  • Attend non-revenue generating sporting events for free.

Other Work/Responsibilities

Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university as a whole and enrich the quality of life for the campus community and support student success.

High School Diploma or equivalency.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work will also be considered.
At least six months of bartending experience of providing full bar service including set-up, breakdown, mixed drinks, etc

Department Required Skills

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • General knowledge of beer and wine, including the proper handling of beer and wine
  • Proper operation and service of keg beer
  • Work for extended periods of time without sitting. Position requires standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, twisting, pulling and pushing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, supervisors, and peers.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, including the ability to remain professional and respectful under pressure when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Excellence in completing all tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to the changing customer volume level with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.

At least one year of bartending experience.
