Job summary

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is seeking qualified part-time faculty to teach Culinary, Baking, and Hospitality courses. Responsibilities include instructional delivery, classroom management, curriculum development, and student advising across day, evening, or weekend sessions.

A minimum seven years in hospitality roles and a ServSafe certification are required. Salary begins at $40 per course hour, with additional time compensation up to $70 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must have an Associate Degree (AAS/AA) or higher in Culinary, Baking, Hospitality.
• Minimum seven years (14,000 hours) as Chef, Pastry Chef or Hospitality Manager.
• One of the following: at least one year experience within last five years OR two years teaching Baking, Pastry, Savory Food preparation at post-secondary level within last five years.
• Must have ServSafe certification from National Restaurant Association with minimum 90% passing score.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines.
• Manage classroom/laboratory environments to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.
• Develop, monitor, and revise curriculum to maintain course effectiveness and relevance.
• Manage equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for instructional activities.
• Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
• Advise students on academic matters and provide guidance to support their educational journey.
• Collaborate with advisory committees, colleagues, and industry partners to enhance program effectiveness.
• Attend departmental and institutional meetings to contribute to academic planning and decision-making.
• Promote educational programs, participate in student recruitment efforts, and support initiatives to retain students.
• Support student organizations and activities to enrich their educational experience.
• Develop and maintain relationships with business and industry partners to facilitate student opportunities and program growth.
• Complete program evaluations, engage in continuous professional development, and stay current in the field.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the institution.
