Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Bakery Assistant Department Manager to oversee daily bakery production, lead the team, and ensure top-quality product on display. You will schedule tasks, train staff, and step in for the Department Manager as needed.

Ideal candidates will have 1–3 years in bakery leadership, strong customer service, and proven ability to manage production and staffing in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years related bakery/retail experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily bakery production and staffing.
• Lead and develop bakery team and assign tasks.
• Ensure freshness, rotate display, and manage production flow.
• Train new employees and support ongoing staff development.
• Maintain department standards in production, cleanliness and service.
