Job summary

The Nothing Bundt Cakes (NbC) is seeking a Shift Manager/Supervisor in San Jose, CA to lead daily store operations during shifts. You’ll oversee inventory, guide team members, and ensure exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced bakery setting.

Responsibilities include supervising production, maintaining product knowledge, handling cash, and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met. Flexible shifts and physical requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in food service, retail, hospitality, or related customer-facing role; supervisory experience preferred.
• Current ServSafe or food handler certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Must have flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business demand.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise NBC the daily shift operations of the store during scheduled shifts, ensuring consistent execution of standards and procedures.
• Ensure product inventory is in place and support the ordering of products according to standards.
• Provide direction, support, and guidance to team members while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Maintain strong product knowledge to educate guests on NBC cakes, flavors, sizes, and merchandise.
• Deliver outstanding guest service by modeling warm, attentive, and solution-oriented behaviors.
• Support the preparation and production of all products in the bakery, including baking, frosting, and packaging following recipes and food safety guidelines.
• Ensure production activities meet safety and sanitation standards.
• Manage shift scheduling, delegate tasks, and ensure breaks and meal periods are compliant.
• Support onboarding and training of new team members; reinforce best practices and procedures.
• Maintain a calm demeanor under pressure during peak volumes.
• Monitor food safety, quality, and sanitation, including health dept. regulations.
• Assist in food preparation, baking, packaging, and presentation of products.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures, including checklists and shift reports.
• Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate when needed.
• Maintain cash controls and reconcile registers; prepare daily financial reports.
