Job summary

Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Winona, MN is seeking a Kitchen Associate to prepare menu items, help manage food costs, and maintain a clean kitchen at all times. You will follow recipes and procedures, work under the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty, and support front-of-house staff to ensure guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities include stocking, portioning per recipes, operating and cleaning kitchen equipment, and adhering to safety standards and FIFO principles throughout shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prepares cooking items.
• Reports to work well-groomed, in clean uniform and maintains hygiene.
• Uses, maintains and cleans kitchen equipment and prep areas.
• Stocks and rotates products to meet shelf life standards.
• Knows recipes, menu items and prep procedures for correct portions and timing.
• Prepares prep items per guest request following safety procedures.
• Controls food cost.
• Ports products are portioned as per recipes.
• Uses FIFO when preparing items.
• Maintains cleanliness of kitchen, prep areas, coolers and storage areas.
• Follows safety procedures for handling, rotation and storage.
• Conducts line sweeps during the shift.
• "Clean as you go" throughout the shift.
• Understands OSHA and health department standards.
• Cleans equipment on line and other areas as directed by managers.
• Anticipates and corrects system issues to maximize guest satisfaction.
• Communicates with Manager on Duty about deficiencies and safety problems.
• Keeps General Manager and Manager on Duty informed of issues and proposes solutions.
• Assists team members and dishwashing staff with duties.
• Preps items per recipes, assists front of house with cleanliness and guest service.
