Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc in Rochester, NY is seeking a Bakery Assistant Department Manager. In this role you will partner with the Bakery Department Manager to oversee daily production, lead and develop the team, and ensure cases are stocked with the best product.

You will schedule production, train staff, maintain department standards in production, cleanliness, and customer service, and fill in for management as needed. This hourly position starts at $18.00–$22.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• Over one year up to three years of similar or related experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer warmly and handling concerns promptly and professionally.
• Check orders for the day, set up a timeline and production schedule, and assign tasks to bakers and department staff.
• Review the daily production list with the team and organize production flow to meet demand.
• Ensure display case product is rotated and replenished and verify freshness.
• Plan ahead for upcoming sales weeks and events, adjusting production as needed.
• Train new employees and support ongoing development of the bakery team.
