Job summary

Hy-Vee Bakery Department is seeking a skilled Bakery Assistant Department Manager to help oversee daily production, lead the team, and ensure cases are stocked with fresh product. You will partner with the Bakery Department Manager to maintain standards and lead in the absence of management.

This role requires strong leadership, the ability to train staff, manage production schedules, and deliver outstanding customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Over one year up to three years of related bakery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and resolving concerns promptly.
• Set up production schedules, assign tasks, and oversee daily bakery production.
• Review production lists, manage workflow, and update schedules as needed.
• Rotate stock for freshness and maintain display cases.
• Train new employees and develop the bakery team.
• Maintain sanitation, safety, and department standards.
• Order products and supplies in the absence of the Department Manager.
