Job summary

Insomnia Cookies is hiring an Assistant Bakery Operations Manager in New York for a fast-paced, guest-focused bakery. You will work with the Bakery Operations Manager to build a skilled team, manage staffing, inventory, quality, and cleanliness, and lead in the BOMs absence.

You will grow into a leadership role, learning the business and developing the confidence to run a bakery of your own one day, while ensuring a warm, high-energy guest experience.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or another customer-focused environment.
• Experience coaching, motivating, and developing hourly team members.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Hands-on leadership style and willingness to jump into any bakery role when needed.
• Must be 18 years of age or older and able to obtain food safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day bakery operations with BOM to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Lead the bakery independently when the BOM is away, keeping the team focused.
• Coach, motivate, and develop Shift Leaders and Cookie Crew through real-time feedback.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training to build a strong, fully staffed team.
• Help create schedules and manage labor to meet the needs of the bakery and the business.
• Support ordering, inventory management, product rotation, and shrink control.
• Maintain high standards for product quality, food safety, cleanliness, speed of service, and overall bakery execution.
• Complete required operational and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
• Identify opportunities to improve bakery performance and partner with BOM and Area leadership.
• Help create a culture where team members know what’s expected, feel supported, and are accountable.
• Jump in wherever needed—from serving guests and baking cookies to supporting the team during peak hours.
