Job summary

Nationwide Technical Search is seeking a Maintenance Manager in Richmond, IN to lead a team responsible for the safe, efficient operation of bakery plant equipment and facilities in a legacy environment.

This hands-on role requires solving complex mechanical problems, sourcing hard-to-find parts, and maintaining uptime while ensuring GMP compliance and cost control. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Industrial Technology or substantial equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing or regulated environments, with at least 2 years in supervision.
• Troubleshoot older non-PLC electromechanical systems; relay logic, analog controls, mechanical governors.
• Strong hands-on skills in welding, fabrication, and machining; reverse-engineer worn components.
• Experience sourcing obsolete or discontinued parts through aftermarket or custom fabrication channels.
• Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, LOTO, OSHA 29 CFR 1910; CMMS proficiency (SAP PM, Fiix, Maintenance Connection).

Responsibilities

• Oversee preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance for bakery equipment and legacy systems.
• Manage legacy building infrastructure including HVAC, steam, electrical panels, compressed air, and water/wastewater systems.
• Develop repair and fabrication solutions when OEM parts are unavailable; coordinate custom fabrication.
• Ensure facilities meet food-grade standards and GMP requirements.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures in high-hour machinery.
• Coordinate planned shutdowns and major overhauls with minimal production disruption.
• Develop and manage CMMS work orders and spare parts inventory for aging assets.
• Create annual maintenance and capital improvement plans; identify end-of-life equipment and business cases for replacements.
