BAKERY/LEAD CLERK (Finance)

Backup the department manager and oversee the department successfully in the manager's absence. Master the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including merchandising, order guides, scheduling, contribution to profit, people development, and customer service. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree, 1+ years' retail experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  3. Friendly, approachable, outgoing demeanor, and a team player.
  4. Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  5. Strong math skills (e.g., calculate discounts, proportions, percentages).
  6. Basic algebra and geometry skills (e.g., calculate circumferences, volume).
  7. Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., training manuals).
  8. Good oral and written communication skills.
  9. Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers/employees.

Responsibilities include:

  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
  • Welcome, serve, and assist customers to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ensure proper staffing to meet service levels and optimize labor utilization.
  • Operate equipment (e.g., knives, box cutters, pricing guns) according to company guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, responding to questions and requests promptly.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures according to SOPs.
  • Adhere to storage and code dating SOPs for all products.
  • Manage timely price changes and in-store transfers in the manager's absence.
  • Remove and dispose of unsellable products appropriately.
  • Follow merchandising guidelines, including displays, signage, and packaging.
  • Monitor product temperatures and placement in coolers and freezers to maintain freshness.
  • Oversee product portion control to meet SOPs.
  • Ensure proper receiving procedures are followed.
  • Proof, bake, glaze, top, and thaw products per SOPs.
  • Stock and refill products correctly.
  • Follow all company policies and SOPs.
  • Comply with food safety, sanitation, and safety regulations, identifying unsafe conditions and notifying management.
  • Maintain flexibility to work all shifts and relocate if necessary.

Physical demands: Frequently walking on wet surfaces, standing, turning, kneeling, reaching, squatting, stooping/bending, lifting and carrying objects from 5 to 80 lbs., and pushing/pulling objects from 200 to 2,000 lbs. Exposure to hot/cold temperatures, occasional crawling, ladder climbing, and walking on uneven ground. Must perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
