Job summary

Kennesaw State University seeks a Bakery Kitchen Supervisor to oversee food handling, prep and baking across dining halls, retail locations and catering events. You will support the Sous Chef, supervise staff, and help maintain high standards of safety, quality and cleanliness in a busy campus kitchen.

The role emphasizes training, recipe testing, menu development and strict adherence to sanitation rules to ensure consistent, high-quality dining experiences for students and faculty.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manager ServSafe certification or obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Two years of related cooking and/or baking experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee staff in assigned area and ensure smooth operation.
  • Perform general cooking and baking duties per guidelines.
  • Lead ongoing training in food preparation, safety and quality control.
  • Assist Sous Chef with testing and implementing new recipes.
  • Assist with menu development and product consistency.
  • Ensure high food quality following regulations, including tasting.
  • Perform sanitation duties and maintain cleanliness of area.
  • Lead bakery and station item preparation from scratch.

Job Summary

Oversees the handling and preparation of food and performsgeneral cooking duties for dining halls, retail locations and/orcatering events. Oversees food quality, safety and sanitation forthe production area. Supports Sous Chef in execution of stationchecklists, staff oversight, maintaining high food standards andother duties related to kitchen cleanliness and organization.

Responsibilities
  • 1. Assists in overseeing staff in assigned area
  • 2. Performs general cooking and/or baking duties per establishedguidelines and assigned location(s)
  • 3. Leads continuous training in food preparation techniques, safetyand quality control
  • 4. Assists Sous Chef in testing and implementing new recipes to themenu
  • 5. Assists Sous Chef with menu development
  • 6. Ensures a high food quality following established regulationsand guidelines, including tasting food for quality control
  • 7. Performs other preparation and sanitation duties asrequired
  • 8. Leads the preparation of bakery and station items fromscratch
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications

Manager ServSafe certified or obtains certification within twelve(12) months of hire

Required Experience

Two (2) years of related cooking and/or baking experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Technical training in commercial food service preferred

Preferred Educational Qualifications

An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institutionof higher education in a related field

Culinary degree or certificate from a culinary arts program

Preferred Experience

Previous lead or supervisor experience in a restaurant or foodservice location

Previous experience in an institutional or commercial operation
