Job summary

Martin’s Super Markets in Granger, IN is seeking a department leader to oversee daily operations in a retail store. You will train staff, ensure proper staffing, and meet company goals and KPIs while maintaining inventory, product quality, and shelf presentation.

Responsibilities include ordering, validation of deliveries, team supervision, and adherence to safety and food safety guidelines. Strong organization and leadership are essential, with Spanish language ability a plus for some locations.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems.
• Dependence on Spanish communication may apply depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible to order and maintain inventory in your department, while utilizing inventory control procedures to ensure product freshness and quality.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight, condition, and ensure all product is stored in appropriate areas.
• Manage a team that completes stocking, production, and other tasks to ensure product quality and time-sensitive rotation, and handle spoiled/damaged products per guidelines.
• Maintain familiarity with all products carried in the department and store.
• Know the ad items, special prices, coupon deals or rewards programs.
• Communicate and execute weekly and period Flight Plans to meet expectations and timelines.
• Support scheduling, labor control, overtime control, and payroll expense for the department.
• Follow PPE and Safety Guidelines; maintain a clean, well-stocked department.
• Attend daily huddles and meetings; participate in district/company meetings as required.
• Develop and monitor department goals, forecasts, and career development of associates.
